According to home sharing service Vrbo, January is by far the busiest month of the year in terms of advance bookings as people start to plan out their holiday destinations for the holidays to come. Though the school and work holiday times see the most traffic on Vrbo’s website with people booking and travelling to their holiday homes, the company says that it’s definitely possible you get an amazing deal for a vacation destination as long as you book it before everyone else gets to it.
Melanie Fish, a travel expert at Vrbo thinks that people who plan later for their holidays end up missing out on the best deals and the trick, according to her, is to get into action as soon as you have your destination in mind so that you have the advantage of being ahead of the curve and having potentially more options to choose from than the people who come looking after you.
Blink and You Might Miss It
Most of the best deals are usually snagged up at the start by early birds which leaves less choices for the subsequent customers meaning they would most likely have to compromise on a specific choice since all the best locations and deals have already been taken. During the spring break holidays for instance, Melanie recommends to book no later than the 10th of February, unless you want to be the sucker who is left standing once the music stops in the game of holiday booking musical chairs.
Whether you have a wonderful, relaxing tropical beach in mind or a casino at a theme park or resort, rest assured you’re not the only one eyeing that location for the best deal during peak season. Vrbo recommends making bookings for Memorial Day weekend no later than April 20th with popular destinations being Panama City Beach in Florida and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. For the summer holidays, most of the bookings are already made by july 28th and if you’re planning for a thanksgiving holiday, make sure to confirm your booking by October 21st so you don’t miss out on the best deals out there!
